View Full Version : Exploitation of women?

Okay, I only bring this up because I have seen these Ron Jeremy flyers all over the place.
And I heard from some people that this is to celebrate the opening of Musab’s and LL’s
porn websites. I just wanted to ask these two men, or anyone for that matter. What do you think the exploitation of women is? And do you think that opening up such sites like this is a disrespectful to women? And is exploitation?
I’m kinda disappointed that these two important figures in our hip-hop community is doing and supporting something like this. :(

I see your point of view and I have my own thoughts on porn. What I do know about Musab is that he is into promoting safe/healthy sex. This is a good thing expecially when you are putting porno out there. At least he's being responsible.
I've had conversations with him and I guess I don't think this is a simple thing to justify. I do know that he feels like a woman who is ok with her sexuality is good. A lot of us have been taught otherwise - and there are these 2 extremes. The good girl and the bad girl - and no girl in between.
I'm not into porn and never have been but I'm not going to take it personal that people I know are - and are going as far as putting up a website on it. Women are choosing to take up the profession (which is an entirely different problem) and they are going into it knowing.
Don't sweat it so much. Maybe you can talk to LL and Musab about it. I'm betting that they are both open to discussing it.

I'm sure everyone gets paid. It's totally natural to enjoy looking @ naked bodies. What's the problem?

I agree. But here's the problem. Women are taught to hide their sexuality and if they see other women who don't hide it they automatically think that they are sluts, or whatever the term for the day is.
Women's sexuality has been repressed - so this is hard for some women. And to be honest, porn can exploit people. It all depends on how it's done.
You gotta try and look at it from all sides. I think that women spend a lot of time trying to please other people instead of themselves. And I think you should do what feels right for you.

look...women have their own minds an they can think fer themselves. some women like a whole lot of sex an dont care what anyone else thinks about that, so they get inta porn an get paid ta have sex, coooool. some many women these days are doing things ta get paid that involve their sexuality or they bodies, thats becomin their hustle. dont hate, congradulate. leave people be who an what they want. if you dont like it, fine, but dont push yer agendas on everyone else.

i forgot ta say this....
lars an musab....DO YA THANG HOMIES!
Admit it women. Every women in their life has thought about doing one of the following:
A. Porn
B. Strip
C. Escort
If you went through with it or not. Thats your choice. But every women has thought about at least once in her lifetime. And if she said she hasn’t then she is lying.
Personally, I dont see anything bad with it. I would just never do it. Because I am too self
conscious of my body and dont think I would be good enough. But I dont hate on it at all. I enjoy looking at Playboys and Maxims.

I don't think the "damn girl" is hating. I think she is disappointed. And just like it's your right to feel the way you do...it is also her right to feel the way she does.
There is a very fine line between exploitation and expression. Unfortunately, women are often the victims of exploitation. Let's not forget that either.
I think that "damn girl" was putting this out to get other people's opinions on what she thought, not to be told to get over it and accept it. She doesn't have to accept it at all.
My 2 cents - has already been stated. I guess I don't really care either way (if there was or wasn't a local porn site put up by people I know)
I think we all gotta remember that sex is good, sex is normal, and being attracted to visual stimulation is natural. It's ok. SEXPRESS YOURSELF! Just be safe

hey smoke breath cutie - I get your point. But don't you think that "thinking" about doing something and actually doing it are two entirely different things?

So--I don't get it--
Are they just not making enough money in the rap game that they have to turn to porn to make a living?
Isn't Musab a founding member of the Rhymesayers? They're doing quite well from what I gather...
Aside from the potential for sexism, etc--doesn't his association with both the Rhymesayers and the porn site cheapen the image of the record label?

In my opinion, yes. Most people who hear this will begin to associate them with the rest of the sleaze in the porno industry.
Porn- I can take it or leave it. I'd be lying if I said I've never partaken (as an observer, not an actor ;) ). I don't think the problem here is really porn itself, but the way the majority of American society views sex and how it shapes the minds of children/teens to view sex as something "bad" or forbidden. The objectification of women is accepted in mainstream culture because millenia of religious repression have justified it for so many generations. Women couldn't even vote in this country until 1920. Things have progressed, but there is still a mass acceptance of sexism in American culture... I think that in order for that to be reversed, influence of religion (mainly Christianity) on culture at large needs to be separated or destroyed altogether.

males are more inclined to be stimulated visually therefore more aft to visit a porn site. most females are more apt to mental and emotional stimulation therefore they see little to no need for such visualizations and have acutally been taught (as well as males) that porn is wrong so they have two negatives working against it in their mind. the fact of the matter is that certain religions have a very strong influence against it and have fueled a lot of misconceptions and maybe even might be the root of some fetishes (it's fun to break the rules, right?) some even feel threatened in relationships by it to an extent that it actually takes on an almost lifelike form becoming a constant source for needless shame in someone that is looking to express or variate themselves sexually instead of being held back for the sake of "fidelity".
to look at something like this as being exploitation is also one sided as there are plenty of females that love making and watching porn. it IS a shame that their ARE people being exploited for the sake of sex or money or both, but please don't pin that on porn. just as guns don't kill people, people kill people. oh yeah, males are doing porn as well and i hear nothing about them being exploited.
i just want to say that i appreciate damn girl's concern and that i am in no way trying to undermine it, just trying to spit my view of the whole situation.
either way, i think that if Musab, LL, or anybody for that matter wants to make a porn site, i'll be the first to say "hook me up with that addy"

What a stupid judgment that was. First off, smart people will realize that Musab’s other activities and his Rhymesayers career are completely different.
If people have a problems with that and disown Rhymesayers or Musab, then I guess we really are a red state after all, stick in ass conservatives with there family values make me sick.

Are you fucking kidding me? You really think some backpacker from Omaha is going to stop buying E&A records because Musab has a porn site? You really think a backlash against the Rhymesayers will occur because Ron Jeremy is hosting a show with Musab and DJ Nikoless for that matter?
Please.
And what makes the porno industry so sleazy?
Mr. Grouchface
2005-01-10, 08:25 AM
exploitation of women is prostitution and under age pornography.
pornography legally should have contracts that women & men sign off on statin that their images are going to be used. this isnt exploitation... its a contract, they know what they are getting into.
if you consider porn to be exploitation to women... its also exploitation to men, just as much.

Your assumption that I believe there's going to be a massive "backlash" against the RSE camp because of some porno site one of their members created is a bit hasty. I never said such a thing.
All I'm saying is that it adds an element of sleaze. Nothing but. Before you put words in my mouth, I suggest you read what I actually wrote instead of reading into it a little too hard. Those who know me will be the first to point out that I'm anything but a "stick in the ass conservative".
Props to LL for maintaining a wonderful resource for the TC hip hop community, and I own several Musab records and continue to support his live shows... whether I agree or not with what they are doing otherwise is another matter entirely. All I said was that I agreed with dude's opinion about cheapening their image. If you disagree, fine. I can live with that.

Wow--a little defensive about porn, aren't you? Between that, and your insecurities about women, you must jerk-off A LOT.
It's funny that you actually buy into that "Red State-Blue State" hype as well. I thought that we were all just people with varying points-of-view. How quick you are to pigeonhole yourself.

my 2 cents
If you dont like porn don't got to the website.
If you feel VERY stongly against porn go vist anti porn websites. OR start your own!!!!
I'm sure it is something these guys really thought about for a while and really had to plan for. I doubt it's easy to just start up a website. I bet it's even tougher to do a porn site so props to LL and Musab for being motivated and making something happen.
I hope people don't think this would reflect bad on RSE.
Would you hold a whole family accountable just because you don't agree with one family members actions?

and i think Musab will still have his credibility intact.

Some people use the noodle, some use the muscle. LL and Musab are using both for a beautiful Hustle. Sexy women make money, and these guys are simply cashing in on it. Would you haters be happier if they(LL and Musab) couldn't get paid & had to starve. This economy has been bullshit, and they're using their brains do make some mo-money. Ron Jeremy seems like a nice person, it should be fun to meet him. Did anyone see 'Ice Cube' volunteering at the Cookie Cutter in North Minneapolis? Hopefully he'll come back to the TwinTowns for a show. He's a gigantic figure in the hip-hop community who used any kind of hustle he could to get rich before he made it big with NWA. Isn't that the same sort of thing LL and Musab are doing?

What makes Slug’s lyrics so clean? Ever listened to the Headshots tapes? Probably not because your a new jack. Shit was dirty. Probably to dirty for your Apple Valley virgin earholes. Learn some history on your gloryboy Slug and learn that he aint no saint. And thank the devil for that!
And the topic at hand was about the exploitation of women. Not Ron Jeremy.
And what does porn, Ron Jeremy and dirty Hip-Hop have to do with Minnesota and nature? You make it sound like these elements are going to reconstruct the polar ice caps and cause a revolutionary shift in our earth’s atmosphere.
And quit quoting MC Hammer. Talk about someone who killed Hip-Hop.

Bringing Ron Jeremy to Minnesota is basically saying, it's ok to open the porno floodgates. So then VH-1 who had Ron Jeremy on the Surreal Life also contributes to the Minnesota Porn Flood Gates right? Why we are at it, lets bring up Girls Gone Wild? What about the 4 story building on 2nd Ave called Sexworld? How about MTV, BET and Viacom with there videos of have naked girls on all day? The floodgates for porn have been open for years now new jack. Girls who dance at your Loan Tree Bar wear slutarific outfits.
Does that contribute to the floodgates?

Yo jackass. Get your facts right.
How does the State governor keep St.Paul safe?
Or are you thinking of Randy Kelly?
Either way your a moran.
And its Triple Rock. Not Triples Rocks.
As far as Pawlenty tax cuts. Shit is false.
Gov. Tim Pawlenty regularly touts his “No New Taxes” pledge and his “no tax” budget.
But what he doesn’t tell you is that instead he will charge Minnesota citizens and businesses more everyday in fee increases that will affect every man, woman and child.
In his “no new taxes’ budget, the governor creates or raises 56 “fees.” If you drive a car,
your plates and license tab fees will go up. If you have parents or relatives in a nursing
home, they will pay an additional daily surcharge. Insurance premiums will go up, and so
will bus fares. There is even a gambling tax “fee,” but apparently that’s not classified as a tax under the governor’s budget. A good many of the fee increases he imposes hit rural
Minnesota hard - particularly farmers, rural landowners, and Main Street businesses and
tourist attractions that bring needed economic development dollars to rural Minnesota.
Camping fees will increase, meaning it will cost families more just to take in the great
outdoors in Minnesota.
The governor also cuts early childhood education funding by 50 percent, meaning the fees that young families will have to pay for early childhood programs could double or triple.
Many school districts have said they will simply have to cut programs because the fee increases will be too much for families to bear.
Add to this the fact that it is very likely that local property taxes, particularly in rural
Minnesota, will rise dramatically. But, according to the metro-based Taxpayers League,
the governor never promised not to raise property taxes.
In total, new fees imposed by the governor would increase costs to Minnesotans a total of
$458 million the next two years. That’s not counting the property tax increases he won’t
acknowledge.
Here’s a small sampling of the fees the governor increases or proposes in his budget:
• License fee increase - $2.7 million
• Dairy processor fee increase - $570,000
• State park camping fee increase - $1.4 million
• Watercraft license surcharge - $820,000
• Commercial fishing license fee increase - $545,000
• Water-quality permit fee increase - $7 million
The governor even creates a special entrance fee that elementary schoolchildren will have
to pay for admission to the Minnesota Zoo ($430,000).
Is a fee a tax? No matter how you answer that question, the governor’s budget will affect your wallet.
Now that I schooled you on the politics of Tim Pawlenty. Keep your mouth shut.

Real mature coming back with a JERK-OFF comment.
The reason I am defensive is because of conservative people shitting on peoples hard
work and ideas just because it doesn’t fit the presidents and the churches views as “family

And you must be as blind as Steve Wonder to think that the Mafia and other organized crime units are not in bed with the porn and drug industries. Where do you think they make there money then, restaurants?

And what are the ethics that we "lost"?
The porn industry is far from the music industry. Actually, they're pretty opposite.
So what if people are trying to make a hustle? Stop knocking it.
Like Hater Dave said, if you don't like it, don't support it, straight up.
And ya'll are acting like there isn't any sleaze in St. Paul / Minneapolis. I could easily find $40 and find a good time on lake and chicago or frogtown at any time.
It's been that way, for a long time now.
Ron Jeremy, LL, Musab, Rhymesayers, Nature, Headshots Tapes, Apple Valley, SUVs and Politics have nothing to do with what woman want to do with theirselves. Peep Moulin Rouge.

i don't know if i am the right person to talk to on this...because on the topic of sex...it's fun to joke around but i think it should be private...bringing porn into a successful record label may bring negative attention to it...at least for me or other females..i would say most females don't agree with it...
let me just say one thing...there is plenty of ways to make money without becoming sleazy.

Here is what I don't get...Its called freewill, the women Lars and Mus are dealing with are as willing of participants as they are(the reasons they do it, for money, self esteem, or whatever, is irrelevant). To try to criticize how they chose to make money and live their lives is just not our place, your entitled to your opinion, but I think anybody who acts like this is going to end the world needs to get a grip. I don't see Lars and Mus running up behind you at work and yelling you being exploited by corporate america, or the government, or whereever you work. I'm guessing a large number of people on here are sitting in cubes right now, yall are the ones really being exploited. Besides that, porn actors have been coming to the cities for YEARS, and if you think lars, Mus, and Ron Jeremy at the Triple Rock is going to open the flood gates to porn in MN, you are way out of touch with the state of things in MN, and maybe you should stay on the sidelines for this one.

It's more like MN fake, and this is not the only time shit like this will happen here. These women are participating on their own, nobody is forcing them, it's not exploitation....Freedom of expression, don't like it, do go to it...Now bring on the porn!

OK I GUESS ITS MY TIME TO BRING CLARITY TO THE SUBJECT. DAMN GURL I UNDERSTAND COMING FROM A WOMANS POINT OF VIEW THAT YES THE PORN INDUSTRY IN YEARS PREVIOUS USED(WOMEN) FOR EXPLOITATION. NOW TO WHOEVERS QUESTION ABOUT WILL IT REFLECT ON MUSAB AND LL AS PEOPLE THEY ARE AS THEMSELVES AND THE COMPANIES. THE ANSWER IS YES! BUT UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS TO DIFFERENT ASPECTS THAT. PEOPLE GOTTA CONSIDER. ONE IS THE BEAUTIFUL HUSTLE! YES IT IS ALWAYS GREAT TO SEE TO YOUNG MEN MAKE MOVES TO ADD ANOTHER FINAICIAL AVENUE FOR THEM TO EXPLORE. BUT ON THE OTHER HAND A POINT TO CONSIDER IS THE BEAUTIFUL STRUGGLE THAT I THINK DAMN GURL IS REFERENCING TO. MEANING THAT WITH ALL THE NEGATIVITY THAT HIP HOP BRINGS BY ITSELF IS IT WORTH IT TO EXPOSE YOURSELF HIP HOP TO THE BAD LIME LIGHT. I KNOW THAT BOTH MUSAB AND LARS HAVE HOPEFULLY LOOKED AT BOTH ASPECTS INTENSLY. AND THE UNDERSTAND THE PAY OFF AND GREAT RISK THEY ARE BRINGIN THEMSELVES. EASILYA BOYCOTT OF RYHMESAYERS AND DUNATION COULD HAPPEN. AND OTHER JUVINILE ACTS COULD HAPPEN. AND IF THEY CAN DEAL WITH THAT MORE POWER TO THEM. NOW THE WAY YOU SHOULD FOLLOW UP WITH JUST LIKE CHEETAH DID IS BY SHOWING YOUR BLESSING. AND SUGGESTING THAT THEY DONT FOLLOW THE FOOTSTEPS OF THOSE BEFORE THEM AND DO THE SITE AS RESPECTFUL AS POSSIBLE. AND I CAN TELL YOU THROUGH THE MANNER THAT I'VE SEEN LARS AND MUSAB HANDLE DIFFERENT SITUATION I KNOW THAT THE SITES WILL BE TASTEFUL AND HANDLED ACCORDINGLY. I LOVE THE FACT THAT THEY ARE WILLING TO TAKE A RISK THAT NOBODY HERE IN THE MINNESOTA HIP HOP SCENE IS WILLING TO TAKE.BECAUSE TOMMORROW YALL HIP HOP HEADS WILL BE IN DISGUST BUT WILL YIELD THEM AS YOUR HEROES ONCE MORE. CONGRADULATING THEM ON A GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT. THAT IT MUSAB WE DEFINATELY GOT TO DO A TRACK HOLLA BACK AT ME DAWG.

^you forgot to use bold type, it comes across better.
This is a cool idea for a show, kinda like those porn star/hip hop & electronia comps that have come out over the past few years. Now i am not a fan of Ron as "actor", but more of a cult anti-hero. He stands for good things and pisses off ppl whom are against these good things. I'm all about pleasure completely against absence. Teach them kids how to fuck in school, the only way to break the chain of old and lonely virgins.
*Interesting & True Fact*
In England, Oral sex was taught to school kids as early as 2nd grade as a way to keep them from having sex as young adults and to potentially lower the growing pregnantcy rate.

you know what, im just going to post it in this thread also...cuz i know ONE of the people who posted on this topic dont even know how to work a computer or click a fucking link button...
so here....
---------------
Musab and I are posting this in response to the Exploitation of Women post...
First off lets start with what we are about and what we are trying to do with these websites:
There are many different types of porn.
And we would like to classify ourselves in the Adult Entertainment catagory. You talk about sleaze in the porn industry? We are not aiming our audience or subject manner towards the sleaze part of the Adult Industry. We are inspired by Playboyish type lifestyle and clean, classy and insightfull subjects and women.
If you want to go after sleaze, you got Hustler for that or your barnyard backdoor websites.
We are bringing something to this area that has never been tapped before. A professional, classy approach to this scene we have here in Minnesota. If anything we are help cleaning up the industry in this town. The reason we started or are getting involved is to see Adult Entertainment done the way we want it to be done.
Its also a webzine not just a porn site. There will be political, educational and areas of interest in the topic of sex and relationships.
For example, the Punk scene supports Suicide Girls and most of you do also. So we should see no problem with the hip-hop community supporting something we are starting. For right now we want to thank everyone who has supported us so far. You know who you are.
Second: The assocation with RSE and us.
RHYMESAYERS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MNSLICKS AND MNNUDE! Except for the fact that Musab is the co-founder of Rhymesayers and has friends on the label. Though Musab's friends on RSE support him and his side ventures. And that Lars works closely with RSE at some times. Music and Adult Entertainment are two different businesses. Dunation.com has nothing to do with MNSlicks and Minnesota Nude. Those of you look abroad know nothing about the friendship between Musab and Sean and are out of line for even bringing him into this subject. And thank you for supporting Rhymesayers and the true fans will continue to do so.
Third: Message to Hypocritics...
Americans spend more money on Adult Entertainment a year then professional sports.
Adult Entertainment is a 10 BILLION dollar a year business. And is a legitimate business and source of income for over 50,000 + americans who are anything from a Adult actor, lawyer, director, webmaster, columnists, publishers, make-up artists, shop owners, distributors, dancers and escorts.
In the year 2005 exploitation is done at ones own will. Wether you choose to snap nude photos of yourself or wear a McDonald's uniform. Its all coporate business and exploitation. Every business exploits its own employees. All of us are exploited to some degree. Every man, women and child are caught into the clutches of capitolism. Is it right? Dont matter. Its the way it is.
Some of you are trying to make us to be child smut peddlers or head masters of a concubine. We are forceing no one to participate and feel offended that in this day and age we have to subject ourselves to answer that question.
Women make up there own minds and do what they want. The thought that a women can even be exploited or put in this postion against her own will is old fashioned and puritanistic.
This is America not Thailand.
It surprises us to see the ignorance some of you have shown towards the Adult Entertainment industry. The Sate of Minnesota has produced many porn stars and personalities and has porn star attractions bi-weekley since the late 80's.
One of the major distributors of porn in the world is based and founded in St.Louis Park by a Minnesotan. 2 out 5 playmates are from Minnesota or the Midwest region. The famous Dahm triplets hail from the Twin Cities area. Minnesota has had its footprint in porn for years and years.
And so has the mafia. Who do you think distributes kiddie porn and heroin. Runs all the underground saunas and incall services. From the East to the West Coast. Lucky Luciano was the biggest pimp ever. Thats how he made his fortune.
Porn doesnt fuck up nature, SUV's and Power Plants do. Sex is nature. We respect women enough to not judge them with the decisions they make in life. We dont respect men, we dont respect women we respect people and the choices they make in there life. Wether you shop at Marshall Fields or St.Sabrinas.
Honor in life is staying true to who you are and what you do regardless of who criticizes you about it. Alot of Americans jack off to porn in one hand and push it away with the other. We are not here to be crusaders for porn, that war was won by the Adult industry a long time ago.
We like to thank those who support us and those who confront us in person with there issues.
And we hope to see yall Saturday at FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION, we are going to have a blast!
Musab and Lars....
Thank You...
I don't really think RSE has anything to do with this, and I definitley didn't want to continue bringing people into this that aren't involved in the issue, but my sarcastic streak and inner child simply couldn't resist on this one...
