I think this is a sensitive subject to post about, but a good one. It gets us away from
Beyonce photos and topics about bitter ex-boyfriends.
Personally alot of people in my culture are involved with Buddhism. But personally I believe in Jesus and follow the Bible. I don’t read or work with a religion because most of them are false and segregated. But from what I remember and reading that the Roman army killed Jesus by the hands of the Jewish authority. I’m not anti-Semitic by any means and respect all aspects of different faith. But I do believe that Jesus was the son of God and that he was the messiah. And he died on the cross for all of us not just for the Jews who believed in him. That brings up another point. Early Christians were Jews because
they believed in Jesus. Only the Jews in the temple city were the ones who banished him.
So wouldn’t Christianity be some form of Judaism?
And religion and faith are two different things.

I don't think it is Mel Gibson, it is that one dude that was in Angel Eyes with JLo a couple years back... can't remember his name. I don't buy the buy-bull but I might go see it as I think xianity makes for good myths and fables ~ just not going to base my life on a book with so many contradictions.

The movie is in Arabic. As far as Jesus being a black man, that is false. But he wasn’t the
white blue eyed figure you see in churches also. If anything Jesus was middle-eastern descent.
And it says in the good book that he wasn’t a attractive man.
As far as Mel Gibson, when you make a movie like this, your not making it for the general public. Gibson said he was making it for himself to show his love for Jesus and to show his last days on earth.
But what makes this movie false as fuck? Are you a Bible scholar? No.
Quote me some scipture to prove me wrong!
You probably one of those people who after watching Dogma or Devils Advocate that they have a clue of what they think they know and are talking about. Dumb fools.

not everyone needs a religion to add meaning to their life.
I think organized religion is a complete joke.
Starting with the Catholics. Catholic schools are breading grounds for alcoholics and future sluts.
Christianity is just as word. No real person actually practices Christianity.

i dont get what the big deal is
if jesus was the son of god, then wouldnt he have planned it all out? wasnt he meant to die for 'our sins'? otherwise it wouldnt have happened would it?
if not, then i guess the son of god was a weakling which in turn would make god a weakling.

i'm not a bible scholar...i'm a conscious black man, seeker of universal knowledge and truth
what makes this false as fuck 'at the root of the matter' (dont' take it out of context) is that jesus was historically implicated to be of a people during a time before they bred with white people, and many historical texts implicated that the people of that region were black (black being used slightly loosely to include all hues considered to be under the auspices of the color black).
in that jesus is being depicted by an australian, that is in and of itself, false as fuck...case in point.
ps: that shit is propoganda. during italian occupation of ethiopia for the six years they were there, a nation that had been jewish and christian long before the european white man had 'discovered' them, infused so much falseness and propoganda it's ridiculous. they built this one church and inside of said church was a painting all over the walls divided in half, the upper half bearing holy and celestial beings (depicted as white people) and the lower half bearing damnation and the evil beings (depicted as black people). propoganda is perpetration of backwards beliefs and ignorance. samuel jackson should be playing jesus, not mel gibson. by depicting jesus as a swede, they have created propoganda. if you're going to watch this...beware of the fact that you're watching propoganda.
pps: don't try and call me out on some bullshit man...we don't even need to have this argument, go read.

I like how everyone is an expert based on what they've read or were taught....
Tha simple fact of the matter is no one has ever met him or his close friends.
Come on let's argue over hearsay....
From what I've read jesus was either black or middle eastern. That means he wasn't a cracka.
It says in the bible something to the effect of "Skin of bronze and hair like sheeps wool".....He wasn't a white dude with an afrow I'm assuming.
He could have looked like the elephant man for all we know....Come on it was 2000 years ago.

I am personally very excited for this movie. Mel Gibson's point was not to implicate Jews or Romans. It's not about some kind of blame game, if anything he is trying to implicate all of humanity in Jesus' death. That's why at one point Mel Gibson used his hand to drive one of the nails through Jesus' hand, thus implicating himself. This movie is supposed to bring to life the suffering Jesus had to endure to die for the sins of humanity.
As far as some of the comments of organized religion being an absolute sham and there being no true followers of Christiany those are gross over simplifications. If anything, if you aren't a believer you should look at this movie as a learning experience about the historical figure who had a large hand in shaping our culture for the past 2000 years. Lastly, everything conservative Christians get excited about isn't necessarily terrible. I think most are excited because this films vividly portrays the suffering they believe Jesus went through for their sins as well as everyone else's. Of course evangelism is a part of that excitement, but that also is a central tenet of the Christian faith.

i'm sayin'...i'm not positive, but judging from the accounts that haven't been morphed to serve a particularly racist motive, one can ascertain Jesus was black
you're right...even that can be considered hearsay, but of the accounts that we can base it on,that's the best we've got
for all we know...he could have very well looked like Mr. T...we can't really refer to a polaroid or anything like that
ps: Muslims believe God is colorless and is neither man nor woman, so that puts another spin on it...it don't even matter like that...the entity is the entity, race is a social construction that can't be observed materially and infused into the spiritual realm, it's that simple
pps: Jesus was still black

Jesus was a man.
Imagine how that man would be treated nowadays.
Ridiculed.
Who gives a fuck about the past? Live for now and the future. Dwelling on the past only creates trouble. I would see this purely for the entertainment aspect.
I live a pretty good life and I feel okay about how my life is going.
Let GOD judge me when I die.

Just saw this movie. Just read through these posts.
So much to say, but probably not really worth saying as there's so many different opinions based on a lot of second hand information, propoganda, and arrogance... why add mine? smile.gif
I was pretty impressed by the accuracy for the most part in the movie. I am not a bible expert, but I DID study Biblical Theology for 4 years in college and would say my 'formal' education is in that area... so I was pleased with the way the film turned out.
It's amazing how people can make blanket statements though in regards to religion... it seems we're still living in the past in SO many ways. VERY few churches that I go to or see have pictures of 'blue eyed/ blonde haired' Jesus. I think it's FAIRLY common knowledge nowadays that Jesus was more then likely NOT a white man. He was more then likely NOT a 'black' man either. He WAS more then likely of a darker skin tone... this based on FACT (historical as well as regional)... but, as pointed out before... no one will ever know for sure, as it WAS quite some time ago smile.gif
The Old Testement book Isaiah prophesied about Him in saying "He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him." - Isaiah 53:2... and common knowledge is Jesus was a carpenter until he was around 30 years old, which was hard labor and probably didn't make him the most fair skinned of the day... plus he wasn't the skinny little guy you see in a lot of the Renaissance error paintings... He was more the likely built like your typical laborer you see nowadays... fairly strong I'm sure... what's even more is that he had to be pointed out by Judas when Judas betrayed Him... so more then likely, based on the Bible, other historical writings (Josephus, etc) he was pretty 'commong' looking.
Anyway, that's all based on 'fact' rather then opinion... but, again, who really knows... He COULD have looked like Mr. T but I REALLY hope He didn't have those feathers in His hair... maybe the bling bling, but NOT the feathers.
Someone said it before that this was so backed by Christians because it is what Christians believe Jesus went through... and I can't agree more. A 'true' (I'll use that word because there's obviously idiot's in EVERY religion that give that religion a bad name) Christian believes that Jesus was the Messiah and suffered through the Crucifixion as a way to pay the price for the sins of the world... each and every person... and that THROUGH Jesus you have a way to the Father in heaven... So, it's like one of the most essential beliefs at the core of the doctrine. I believe this as well... and hence this movie was very captivating... I don't know if this movie will 'convert' others or 'win souls' but I know for ME it was life changing in the sense that it made the whole story THAT much more real... to understand what it would be been like to have witnessed that event... and being a Father now to imagine what Mary would have gone through watching that happen to her son (although I'm sure I can't FULLY comprehend). It challenges me as a person and despite what some on this board may feel in regards to religion or relationship with Jesus or anything else, I know that I enjoyed the movie.
The Gospel of John video is good too... I own that and enjoy it as well... too bad it was filmed in Canada smile.gif
Oh, did anyone catch the beginning where Jesus was sweating blood? That part of the movie was quite interesting, as I kind of wasn't expecting it... I read a study my last in college about how the human body can actually do that when under extreme amounts of stress... and it was interesting to see that part of the movie... just... wow, Jesus was stressed like crazy... foreseeing his death; beginning to taste the sin of the world; feeling the seperation from God the Father... wow.
Anyway... I've typed so much... I'm sorry... good movie.

history is pretty clear that the people in that region had been there for awhile, unless of course, your talking about how they had come from Egypt... which then I can say.. yes, they did... but, before that, they were in that region to begin with (the whole mesopotamia region).
personally, I don't have a problem with Jesus being a 'brother' or whatever else people would like to think... I know he wasn't 'white skinned' but I also have seen and read NUMEROUS studies on this and I highly doubt he was 'African'.
I don't really think it matters.. he could have been Chinese... the reason He came to the earth still remains the same... smile.gif
