Thats right bitchers and bitchettes, the July battle will be on the 17th and this month is the THEME BATTLE!!!! Yussir, this month's theme is: Beat Dr Dre's beat (battle)!

Yup, I am going to supply 5 samples that the good doctor has hooked up to make his classic rap cuts from. I'll drop CDs off at the 5th and the Dinkytowner and if you hit me up at djkingotto@hotmail.com, I will forward you the mp3s.

The samples will be:

Dave McClullon - The Edge (used for The Next Episode)
George McCrae - I Get Lifted (used for Gin and Juice)
Leon Haywood - I Wanna Do Something Freaky to You (used for Nothing but a G Thang)
Labi Siffre - I Got The... (used for My Name Is)
Soul Mann and the Brothers - Bumpy's Lament (used for Xxplosive)

CDs will be available at the Dinkytowner and 5th Element no later than July 3rd.

Freak each beat for 1 1/2 minutes and make sure we can tell which sample you used! You can use all or just one, but we're only playing one beat for this battle. The point is to use the main part and add whatever you want to it so, there are no limitations as far as only using from the CD. The only limitation is using one of these as your main sample. Be original and chop it up creatively or just loop it and make it funky!

Now, as an added bonus, the judges for this battle will be none other than the Tall Homie and Jake Weezy! If you don't know, that's Vitamin D (Tribal Music, RSE and the Big Tunes Redbull beat battle) and Jake One* (White Van Music, producer of Rock Kokane Flow and countless others as well as the Big Tunes redbull beat battle). These cats are my hometown homies and are doing pretty big things in the music world these days. If you're not familiar with them check out releases by Rhymesayers, the Gift of Gab, Encore, Young Buck, De la Soul, 50 Cent, Jurassic 5, Redman, Abstract Rude and on and on and believe me, on! These cats have work!

So, that being said, we won't give Vita a mic so, he won't be talking shit about your beat! But, you better have that heat cause he is prone to to steal microphones!

the cds will be available at both locations around 8pm this evening - which is still the 3rd, which is the date my post said they'd be available. i will e-mail the mp3s once i get them to forward, which should be soon. i have technological issues right now so please bare with me. thanks!

the cds will contain the full songs but the idea is to use the same part of the songs that dre used and freak it differently and with any luck (skill), better. we are only going to use one beat from each entrant for the first round and whoever advances has the choice of using another track they've made from the samples or the same track used in the first round.

OH YEAH! i forgot to mention that vita and jake will be battle each other as a break in the battle this time. so, if you want to hear some beats by these cats that haven't been used by anyone yet, come on down!

thats a good idea. but will likely take way to much effort at this point to conver the site to a music site and post the songs for download. there may be some other copywrite issues with that as well but in the future that might be the lick.

Still seems to be some confusioon regarding how this is gonna go....

We are providing your MAIN samples. You have to build a new beat around the parts that Dre used. This means you use the same sample he used, any way you want. You add your own drums, bassline, horns, cat screeches, police sirens, women screaming, whatever. The idea is that you are the first one to eff with these samples. Creativity is a MUST!

Also, some sample CDs were left at the Dinkytowner and the 5th as of Tuesday evening. Sorry for the delay but I'm a workin man. I have also started forwarding the mp3s so its in full motion now!
