More information on THE MUSIC!!!: Brother Ali will be the final performer at the Black Dog Block Party, with all set times to be determined soon.
BROTHER ALI - Minneapolis-based rapper Brother Ali is receiving tons of national and international attention for his new release, The Undisputed Truth. The Rhymesayers Entertainment star, and undisputed Master of Ceremony, has been performing at events like sold-out CD Release shows at First Avenue, the Coachella festival, South By Southwest and a June tour of Australia. A chance to see the Twin Towns hottest star at a free outdoor show.
LOS NATIVOS - Since 1996, St. Paul-based Los Nativos have brought a Mexican identity to their fresh brand of Hip Hop. They’ve been featured in The Source magazine, toured throughout the U.S. and Mexico, and shared the stage with groups like the Black Eyed Peas. Integrating Hip Hop with funk, Tejano, Salsa and more, they bring a message to communities.
JELLOSLAVE - Cellists Jacqueline Ferrier-Ultan and Michelle Kinney use all eight amplified strings to sing, squawk, scream, growl and purr their way through an eclectic repertoire ranging from Bach to Led Zeppelin to their own improvisational and jazz-influenced compositions.
ILL CHEMISTRY - Ill Chemistry features Desdamona (the Twin Cities premier female Hip Hop and spoken word artist) and beatboxer Carnage the Executioner. Desdamona will be riding high on the recent release of her new CD The Source and Carnage is simply a force of nature.
THE NEW CONGRESS - Winners of R&B/Soul Song of the Year and Neosoul Band of the Year at the 2006 Los Angeles Music Awards, this Minneapolis crew also picked up Minnesota Music Awards for their debut release, Everybody Gets Up. The six-piece band mixes turntables with old-school R&B sounds.
BLACK BLONDIE - A recent East Coast tour found Black Blondie sharing the stage with the likes of Jill Scott and Amy Winehouse. Black Blondie centers on affirmative, progressive lyrics, stirringly balanced out with the Erotic. Spellbinding, sinewy and sensuous sounds surrounding female vocals.
A DAMNO DEVINE - This rock & roll powerhouse brings a new darkness to rawk.
